GL Accountant Role purpose
Support accurate financial reporting by maintaining the general ledger, ensuring timely close processes, and delivering reconciliations and analysis that comply with internal controls and accounting standards. Core responsibilities - Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accurate general ledger records. - Perform monthly/period-end close activities, including accruals, prepaids, and allocations. - Reconcile balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, AP/AR-related accounts, fixed assets) and resolve variances. - Support financial statement preparation, flux analysis, and management reporting. - Assist with audit requests and provide supporting schedules and documentation. - Ensure compliance with accounting policies, SOX/internal controls, and documentation standards. - Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes, accuracy, and close timelines. Required skills and qualifications - Accounting knowledge: general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial close. - Technical skills: proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel. - Analytical ability: identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions. - Attention to detail: accurate data entry, documentation, and adherence to deadlines. - Communication: clear coordination with stakeholders and auditors. - Education/experience: degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent) and relevant GL experience.
