About the position
Avantes is entering its next phase of growth, building on a strong position in spectroscopy and expanding into new applications and adjacent strategic markets. As Business Development Manager, you help define where the company should grow next. You analyse market developments, identify attractive applications and assess emerging technologies, translating market intelligence into long-term commercial opportunities.
Working closely with the Commercial Director and colleagues across Sales, Engineering and Product Management, you help to shape Avantes' commercial direction. Your focus is not day-to-day sales execution, but identifying strategic opportunities, building the foundation for future growth and enabling the commercial organisation to capture them successfully.
You also establish Business Development as a more structured strategic capability. You introduce clear approaches to market intelligence, prioritisation and governance, connect market opportunities with Avantes' technical capabilities and innovation roadmap, and develop business cases, value propositions and go-to-market strategies.
The role is highly international in nature. You will collaborate with colleagues, customers, technology partners and research organisations across the globe, build strategic partnerships, advise the Commercial Director, and represent Avantes with key customers, partners and at industry events.
The position can be based anywhere in Europe. Regular international travel, including visits to the company's headquarters, forms part of the role.
